Furthermore, we want to pay homage and honor to the God Father of Punta Rock Mr. Pen Cayetano a Garifuna Artist from Belize Central America.  The new genre Punta Rock was introduced into the Garifuna music discography in the early 1980’s when Pen Cayetano and his Band known as The Turtle Shell Band added other electronic musical instruments such as the Electric Guitar, Bass, and Keyboards into his new band.  Traditional Garifuna Drums and Turtle Shells were also used as added percussion instruments in the band.

Pen took the traditional Punta Beat and increase the speed and tempo of the music therefore calling this new genre Punta Rock.

Garifuna Entertainment is now managing, producing, and distributing music by the following Garifuna Artist and Bands: Estrellas Ubou, Kaligar Band, Omar “Babakle” Suazo, Mando Ballesteros and Ugurau Band from Belize

Garifuna have 10 major traditional dances and rhythms which are Banguidi aka, (Punta) Culiou, Wanaragua, Coropatia, Paranda, Hungu Hugu, Fedu, Gungei, Sambei. Piamanadi.
